BOZEMAN, MONTANA — In a housing market where rent prices continue to soar, one Bozeman man is feeling incredibly fortunate to have secured a walk-in closet for just $2500 per month.
“Sure, it’s small and there’s not much room to move around, but it’s a place to call home,” said 27-year-old Mark Johnson, who has been searching for a place to live in Bozeman for months.
According to local real estate experts, the demand for housing in Bozeman has never been higher, with the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment hovering around $3500.
“Mark was incredibly lucky to find a walk-in closet for that price,” said real estate agent Susan Kloser. “I’ve seen people paying twice as much for a converted garage or a tiny studio apartment.”
Despite the unconventional living situation, Johnson says he feels like he’s hit the jackpot with his $2500/month closet.
“I have a roof over my head and a place to store my clothes, what more could I ask for?” he said.
When asked if he had any concerns about the lack of privacy or space in his new home, Johnson shrugged it off.
“I’m just grateful to have a place to sleep at night,” he said. “Plus, I can finally stop showering at the gym.”
Despite the exorbitant cost of housing in Bozeman, Johnson remains optimistic about his future in the city.
“Living in a small space has really helped me downsize and simplify my life. I’ve realized I don’t need a lot of material possessions to be happy,” he said. “But don’t get me wrong, I’m still holding out for a closet with a door.”
